NO. 5 – WEEK  OF  1ST APRIL  2002

GOOD MORNING CL-JJR !

GUESS  WHAT ?

This issue is in English ! (and this is not a « Poisson d’avril » !) …

Every week, we try hard to make YOUR week as nice as possible and, for this time, we’ve decided to make our friends abroad happy by issuing this letter in English. As every CL-JJR speaks fluently both French and English, we think no one will contest or protest (except if the writer’s English is too poor !). Hope everybody will enjoy reading this letter and for those whose English is « so far away », don’t worry, this is very ELEMENTARY English !

When you start reading this letter on Monday,

hope it’s not too late to wish you :

HAPPY EASTER HOLIDAYS !

And if you’re still on vacations, all the CL-JJR team sincerely asks you to FORGET your boss, your colleagues, your computer, your mobile … even your secretary ! and recommends you a lot of nice things to do, like :  enjoy the sunshine (if any …), go out with the kids (and your wife, of course …), to the movie (hope you won’t fall asleep as most of you often do), to the restaurant (but watch out for your weight !), make a lot of shopping (but watch out for your purse !), try again  your VTT (but be careful , if you haven’t done for a long time !) etc… And we are glad to give you our advice on how to spend nice holidays : SLEEP a whole day long ! ! ! or make a REAL BIG « Grasse matinée » ! ! !

Now, we’re gonna talk about what  ? Everything … Anything … ?

For the CL-JJR living in the States, why not tell them that I spent one year in Wisconsin ? (in Elm Grove exactly, near Milwaukee. Is there any JJR living in that region ? Don’t think so,…). It was in 1965 and I was 16 years old ! (Oh my God, it’s already so far away !). After a JJR broke my heart, I decided to change my life and live in another country … (in fact, I got a scholarship from the American Field Service !). The reason of these explanations is just to tell you two funny anecdotes :

§         When I arrived in the States, my English was so poor and I was so shy  that I always said « YES » to everybody, to anything, any question, especially that one : « Do you want some more ice cream ? ». Results : I gained 10 KGS in three months ! but as I weighed only 35 kgs when arriving in the US, I was still all right … For your information, I’m STILL ALL RIGHT NOW, i.e. 47 kgs. If you make a quick calculation, you must admit that it’s not too bad : from 1965 to now (i.e. about 35 years), I only gained two more kilos … (one kg per child, as I have two, a girl and a boy).

§         Just when I was there, the Beatles created the song « Michelle, ma Belle ». Needless to say that I was the only Michelle in Elm Grove and, therefore, I was quite famous … (it helped a lot for « dating » …).

But that’s all, folks, about my « American life » ! Let’s talk about other things.

By the way, I read somewhere in the mail that some CL-JJR living in the US are very fond of jokes. So, I’m proposing you one this time, but a very cute one :

§        Something wrong

A Chinese couple named Wong had a new baby. The nurse brings to them a lovely, healthy, bouncy, definitely Caucasian white baby boy !

«Congratulations » says the nurse  to the new parents. « What will you name the baby ?

The puzzled father looks at his new baby boy and says : « Well, two Wongs don’t make a white, so I think we will name him ’Sum Ting Wong’ ».

In our « Good Morning Letter », we always try to put a « philosophical » quotation (for those who would like to have a short moment of « meditation »). I’ve chosen this one for you :

We must laugh before we are happy,

for fear of dying without having laughed at all.

LA BRUYERE

AND NOW, HERE IS A BOUQUET OF NICE THOUGHTS FOR ALL OF YOU :

I love you, not for who you are,

But for who I am when I’m by your side.

(This is my preferred one).

A true friend is the one who holds your hand

                                               And touches your heart.

J        Never stop smiling, not even when you are sad.

Someone might fall in love with your smile !

You may only be a person in this world,

but for someone, you’re the world.

Don’t cry because it came to an end. Smile because it happened. J

Don’t struggle so much. Best things happen

when not expected.

Remember : everything that happens has a reason behind.

   THAT’S ALL, FOLKS ! HAVE A NICE WEEK !
